"be'loD Chief Engineers" by Ensign T'Kang T'Kang came marching into main engineering like a bull in a china shop. He wasn't particularly pleased that his break had been interrupted, and was even less pleased that he had to report to Lieutenant' Hannoyh, the Intrepid's Chief Engineering Officer. Hannoyh was a Hermat, a sort of species that his both male and female though typically they tend to have a more feminine appearance as was the case with the five foot eight Lieutenant' Hannoyh. The Klingons have a word for Hannoyh's people, be'loD. Or roughly translated, female-male. All T'Kang knew for sure was the Chief gave him the creeps. The Klingon stormed into engineering rudely walking straight past several engineers not giving them more than a growl of acknowledgment. Standing before the towering matter anti- matter warp core, T'Kang paused and looked around for the Hermat Chief Engineer. Scanning the room, he finally spotted Hannoyh on the upper maintenance lever signing off a padd and handing it to another engineer. T'Kang curled his upper lip slightly, exposing his sharp warriors canine teeth, one of the few features both the Hermat and Klingons shared. Lieutenant' Hannoyh glanced over the top of his padd and looked directly at T'Kang. They exchanged glances long enough for the Chief to notice the Klingon's "pleasant demeanor" at being summoned away from his meal. Without batting an eye or relaying any sort of emotion at all, Hannoyh just returned her gaze to his padd where s/he finished signing off on the work before handing it back to the other engineer. Effectively snubbing T'Kang by not acknowledging his presence. The Klingon closed his mouth and felt it tighten while his nostrils flared on the exhale of breath. Making his way to the catwalk, T'Kang began climbing up the rungs on the wall to join the Chief on the maintenance level. When he finally arrived, Lieutenant' Hannoyh was going about hir business, not minding T'Kang any attention at all. T'Kang stood about two meters behind the Chief Engineer and waited for hir to address him. After a few moments when it became apparent to the Klingon that Hannoyh was busy adjusting the controls of the upper work station console, T'Kang took a small step closer and cleared his voice, loudly. Lieutenant' Hannoyh raised hir hand and a single finger, signaling that T'Kang should wait a minute while s/he finished hir work. T'Kang growled softly, not being able to help but feel that the Chief was making him wait on purpose, as if s/he was playing some kind of game with the Klingon. After a moment, the Chief Engineer turned around and looked over T'Kang. "Ensign T'Kang reporting as ordered." The Klingon said loudly, but not enthusiastically. T'Kang's tenacious tone was not lost of the Hermat officer. Unlike with Lieutenant' Gabriel when T'Kang honestly forgot the address of "sir", the Klingon considered using it now for the Chief, but given the unique sexuality of a be'loD, T'Kang wasn't sure if Hannoyh would be offended by that or not. If he was sure s/he would be, he would most certainly have called hir "sir." Instead T'Kang stood there at attention waiting to find out why the Chief of Engineering had summoned him. He suspected it was some sort of repair assignment but wasn't sure why that would be such a pressing matter that he couldn't finish eating his meal. <>
