"A volunteer" by Ensign T'Kang Assistant Engineer - USS Intrepid T'Kang stood by, stewing at the engineering station of the bridge. He couldn't believe Captain Celchu was going to leave the fate of the away team to some green, telepathic goo. With arms crossed and his feet in a defiant gape, the Klingon had both an imposing and disapproving presence as he observed the bridge. Within a short time, Ensign Shadow's voice informed the Captain that the XO's team did reach the planet surface safely, however the green goo had been unable to telepathically contact Ktryna. A slight snicker formed on T'Kang's lips when Shadow advised the launching of the probe. The Captain gave the order, and soon the modified communications probe streaked towards Frainar III. Within minutes they had a fix on the second away team. Unfortunately, they were stranded in a jungle, and there were Romulans on the planet as well. T'Kang was glad that the modified probe was working, but didn't like the idea of Nal being on the surface of Frainar III with a detachment of Romulans. The Captain ordered an away team to beam down to the surface in hopes of evening up the odds. Using the probe as a relay point for the transporter signal, the security team just managed to complete the beam out before the probe suddenly quit responding and fell to the planet's surface. A fiery, glowing, Federation made meteorite lit up the sky of Frainar III for a moment, causing the away team and the Romulans to look at the streaking probe that burned up in the lower atmosphere of the planet upon reentry. Stepping forward, T'Kang approached the Captain who had finally managed to sit down in the command chair after all of his pacing earlier. "Captain, it may be possible to beam up the away team if we send down a set of pattern enhancers and arrange them at an advantageous location where the clearest signal can be obtained." Lieutenant Commander Celchu regarded T'Kang for a moment before responding in an even tone, "Possibly. Though someone would have to be able to set them up and triangulate their signals." Straightening, T'Kang came to attention, "I would be willing to go Captain." Celchu thought about the Ensign's proposed plan before responding.
