"Leaving Frainar III" by Ensign T'Kang (Assistant) Chief Engineer - USS Intrepid T'Kang felt weak and nauseous. The burly Klingon warrior was loathe to admit it, but Lieutenant Commander Davis was right. The radiation poisoning was affecting him. The Intrepid's First Officer had given the Assistant Engineer an injection of counter agent with the hypospray, but so far it didn't seem to be helping T'Kang very much. General medications like the type in the emergency medical kit from the shuttle craft rarely were focused enough for precise treatment. In T'Kang's case, he needed more care than the XO was going to be able to render with basic first aid. He needed to get on board a starship into a full sickbay. Hearing movement about him in the room, T'Kang opened his eyes. Davis was standing near him, running a medical scanner over his entire body. The Klingon struggled to force his blurry vision to focus. From the expression on the Lieutenant Commander's face, the prognosis was not good. "We need to get you out of here and to a better medical facility." David declared with a hint of urgency in his voice. "I will be fine. I just need some rest is all." T'Kang grunted rudely. "No. You won't be. If we don't get you proper medical attention, you most likely will die in the next forty eight hours. I'm getting you out of here now." Davis declared with dead seriousness. T'Kang glanced at the First Officer with a nasty look. "The Intrepid will not be back for several days. They are busy assisting the April across the quadrant." The Klingon argued. "We can take the shuttle and head towards their position. We are bound to run into a Federation ship along the way." Davis began to explain and then realized that his being polite was pointless with T'Kang. "It doesn't matter. I said we are going and that is all there is to it Ensign. Now, do you think you can walk or am I going to have to carry you to the shuttle craft myself?" A snarl escaped T'Kang's lips as he struggled to get off the bed and stand on unsure legs. "I am a Klingon warrior. I will make it `Commander." Davis regarded the Klingon officer for a moment and then decided he was going to make it. Out of shear stubbornness alone if nothing else. "Okay, give me a second to gather up the medical gear." Steven said. He quickly grabbed the med kit and gathered up the loose instruments. Steven had a serious expression on his face as he worked. His tongue was barely jutting out of the corner of his mouth while he thought of the course they would be best to take to quickly place them in the most traveled space lanes where a passing ship was likely to happen by. When he had everything, `Commander David grabbed one of T'Kang's arms to steady him as they both walked to the remaining shuttle craft. Within a short time, Davis had T'Kang settled down in one of the chairs. When he was sure the Klingon was going to be all right, the `Commander moved to the pilot's station and got the shuttle under way. **** A short time later they had left the Frainar system and were on route to meet up with the USS Intrepid's last known position. The shuttle was traveling at warp 1. T'Kang was holding steady. He wasn't getting any better, but the general medications Davis had given him had slowed the progress of the radiation poisoning. The Engineer was holding steady, though very weak. Tapping the controls of the shuttle, Davis began scanning for any passing Federation ships that could assist them. Within an hour's time, the pair had lucked out. Steven detected the USS Cortez heading in their direction at high warp. Opening a channel to the Cortez, Lieutenant Commander Davis asked for permission to come on board. After a brief explanation which Ensign T'Kang kept fading in and out of in his weakened condition, permission was granted. The last thing T'Kang remembered seeing was the shuttle craft as it approached the shuttle bay of the USS Cortez just before the Klingon blacked out. << OOC: Okay, Lieutenant Commander Davis and Ensign T'Kang are now on the USS Cortez and heading for the Intrepid / the battle / et all. My next log will be in the Cortez' sickbay unless someone else wants to post the story of the "grumpy Klingon's" treatment there before we arrive at the Intrepid. >>
