"A bumpy ride" by Ensign T'Kang Chief Engineer - USS intrepid Things were getting dicey as the task force of ships navigated the asteroid field. Evidently, some wayward asteroids had drifted into the corridor the five starships were navigating and causing problems. T'Kang was monitoring the USS Intrepid's progress through the corridor when a hail came in from the bridge. It was Cadet Salek, the bright new star on the engineering crews team. The Vulcan officer had come up with the idea of using the deflector to generate a subspace field around the random asteroids to lighten them and shove them harmlessly out of the way. It was a technique that had been used successfully before to move much larger objects than these asteroids. With subspace fields, entire space stations could be moved with mere thrusters. The fact that the Cadet had thought of it on the fly for this situation was quite remarkable. T'Kang gave his approval for Mister Salek to proceed. He only hoped that the other ships in the task force would follow suit and help to blaze a clear trail for the Intrepid to follow. Being the trailing starship at the rear of the pack, any mistakes or collisions of the lead ships would only cascade and make things more difficult for those that followed. Referencing the navigational console in main engineering, T'Kang could see that the Intrepid and the lead ships were already two thirds of the way through the asteroid field. If they could hold together for a little while longer, they would clear the asteroid corridor and be ready to engage the panthers and liberate Gamma Ethos IV. A warrior's anticipation raced through the Klingon's veins. The taste of battle was swirling in T'Kang's mouth as he thought of the upcoming battle and the chance for the USS Intrepid to redeem itself for the poor showing in the earlier conflict. "bortaS blr jablu'Dl'reH QaQqu' nay'" T'Kang declared in Klingon. Indeed, Revenge is a dish which is best served cold.
