"A bad taste in your mouth" by Lieutenant jg T'Kang Chief Engineer - USS Intrepid http://come.to/tkang T'Kang awoke with an awful taste in his mouth. It felt like his tongue was covered in fur, he was so parched. Glancing around Engineering while he regained his equilibrium, the Klingon heard the hiss of a hypo spray causing him to look to his left. It was Lieutenant Calenzie. The Chief Tactical officer was kneeling down and checking on Lieutenant Shadow after the sonic attack from deck three. T'Kang jerked to life, realizing he had failed to release the gas as ordered to by Lieutenant Commander Davis. Quickly he started to move to the console. "I have released the gas on Deck 3. Ensign Loran is handling things on the bridge." Nal explained. T'Kang glanced back. Loran. The android. Of course, it was no wonder why the machine was not affected. But Calenzie? "How come you weren't affected?" the Klingon asked brusquely. "I was, but I recovered sooner.....don't ask me why...something to do with my physiology." Nal explained. Calenzie handed the hypospray from the med kit to Lieutenant Shadow to wake the rest of the Engineering staff with. Davis quickly excused himself to make his way to the bridge. Then after a brief period of inner reflection, Lieutenant Calenzie announced that the green goo was initiating repairs to the ship and would be done in a little over a half hour. "I knew this was not a good idea. . . ." T'Kang grumbled before stomping to his office to get a cloth to tend to his bloodied lip. After patting away the excess blood, T'Kang walked over to his secured locker and punched in the access code on the padd. The door slid upwards, allowing him access. Reaching inside, he removed a phaser and checked it's setting before attaching it to his hip. Closing the locker, he quickly grabbed a tricorder before marching out of his office, still holding the rag and patting his lip. Checking the master situation monitor in Engineering, the Chief could see that the security force fields he activated on deck three were still in place. So whomever activated that sonic pulse was likely still there. Turning, he went to check it out. "Force fields are still in place on deck three Lieutenant. I am going up there to check things out." T'Kang explained, not slowing his stride in the least. Calenzie glanced at the burly Klingon and just gave a nod. Nal had other things on his mind, like his secret meeting with the gel near his quarters. *** T'Kang made it to deck three with little problem. Having activated the security force fields on that deck himself, he knew all of the codes to selectively deactivate them one by one. The Anestistine gas had been released and was already being dissipated by the environmental control systems. Still, T'Kang was careful and held a portable respirator over his face as he entered each section, deactivating the force field as he saw things were clear. The Klingon was working his way towards the Ambassador's quarters when a couple of security officers came along, namely Lieutenant Commander Beldin and Lieutenant jg Dean. "Woe there big guy. Wait for us." Beldin called out. Both officers were holding phaser rifles and appeared ready for a fight. T'Kang liked that. "I was just about to check on the Ambassador. This whole deck was flooded with Anestistine gas. You should be careful, traces might still remain." the Klingon explained. "Right, okay. Now move aside and let us check out the Ambassador's quarters Lieutenant." Dean said motioning to the side with the tip of his rifle. T'Kang's expression soured even more than normal as he reluctantly moved aside to let security do their job. Carefully, they got into position, before Lieutenant Commander Beldin used his access code to over ride the lock on the Ambassador's door. The entrance way slid open and both officers burst inside. Leaning his head around the bulkhead, T'Kang could see that there appeared to have been a struggle in the Ambassador's quarters. On the floor laid two bodies. The Mugarri ambassador was laying on her side. Across from her, Ensign Salek lay unconscious and bleeding, while a large Alaskan timber wolf stood over him holding onto his arm in it's mouth as it growled at the two security officers. "Ok..Ktryna. . . . careful now. . . ." Joans said evenly. {Ktruna? the civilian is a shape shifter?} T'Kang thought as he watched. The wolf growled as the two security officers began to approach. "Oh stop that." Beldin scolded as he would to another crew member. The wolf slowly released Salek's arm and moved away, but still seemed poised to strike should Salek regain consciousness. Tapping his comm badge, the Klingon raised sickbay. +taps+ "This is Lieutenant T'Kang in the Ambassador's quarters. We have a medical emergency here. The Ambassador looks to have been attacked and Ensign Salek is injured. Please send someone here on the double." +taps+ "We will send someone right away Lieutenant." came the reply over the channel. Once medical had been notified, T'Kang entered the Ambassador's quarters and went over to check on his fellow engineer. As the Klingon kneeled down, the wolf let out a territorial growl. The Klingon looked at the wolf, a gorgeous animal, and growled back. He then proceeded to check the Vulcan's wounds. There were numerous bites and scratches that stained his uniform green, but over all, the injuries didn't appear to be too serious. But that was simply an Engineer's medical assessment of the situation. "I don't understand what could have happened here." T'Kang declared sitting at his coworker's side while waiting for the med team to arrive. <>
