"Some silly putty with feelings" by Lieutenant jg T'Kang Chief Engineer - USS Intrepid http://come.to/tkang Visions of the Intrepid's last battle kept circling in the Klingon's mind. When the Intrepid was part of the task force that took on the dreaded Panthers, the Intrepid and the MVA mode was a complete nightmare. The Intrepid had fought miserably, the third vector, the Engineering hull of the ship, had to jettisoned it's warp core to avoid being destroyed. The ship was on a simple milk run, delivering the Mugarri ambassador to earth. The now identified Nharwak, the only thing stopping the ship from reaching it's destination. Already two Nharwak Infiltrators had been discovered on board the starship. T'Kang shook his head in disgust wondering how such hostile aliens could get on board a starship such as the Intrepid. Had security grown that lax on this vessel since Fleet Captain Hawke's departure? What made things worse was that the Nharwak were a bunch of genetically enhanced telepaths. Lieutenant jg Salek had come up with a plan to create a sort of telepathic thought detector using the ship's sensors, a control unit, and liberal help from Lieutenant Commander Davis' green goo. The fate of the entire ship in the hands of some silly putty with feelings, that had left the main computer core of the Intrepid coated in a weird sort of slime. Given the time constraints there was nothing T'Kang could do about it but complain to Davis and Calenzie about what the goo had done to the ship systems. T'Kang felt bad complaining to Nal, who has in sickbay at the time, but Davis simply dismissed the Chief Engineer saying the slime in the system isn't doing any harm, and they didn't have time to shut everything down to remove it. Currently, the battle station klaxons were sounding as the Intrepid detected one of the approaching Nharwak vessels. The Captain had extended the urgency of getting Salek's contraption on-line in a hurry. Hastily the Vulcan finished up, before announcing he'd completed and asking for a new assignment. "You can stay here in main engineering and run that.. goo powered contraption of yours." T'Kang pointed, "You are the only one that understands how it works anyhow. I will monitor the Intrepid's systems from the master situation monitor station on the Bridge." Salek nodded. "You had better hurry then Lieutenant. The Nharwak vessel is quickly approaching." T'Kang regarded the Vulcan for a moment and gave a low grunt of approval before he turned and quickly made his way out of engineering in a half jog. Salek watched as the bulky Klingon clamored out of Engineering before turning his attentions back to the telepathic tracking device.
