"Power down preparations" by Lieutenant jg T'Kang Chief Tactical Officer - USS Tempest Once the Tactical simulation had been completed, Lieutenant T'Kang dismissed the two Cadets so that they could review their own materials and conduct simulations using the holodeck library on the Tempest. The Klingon's first impression was a good one, particularly of Cadet Borns. Cadet Soran seemed to be. a rather quiet individual to say the least. While T'Kang was not a great fan of Human 'small talk", he certainly preferred something out of the officers in his department. While reconfiguring the tactical station to take it out of simulation mode and bring it back on-line to active status, a hail came over the comm system. +taps+ "Blake to T'Kang, we will be shutting down main power to the Tempest for 20 minutes. I noticed you were running a couple of diagnostics and programs on tac so is this going to inconvenience you?" T'Kang reached over and thumbed the communication circuit. +taps+ "We have completed the simulations for today Chief. You may cut the power whenever you need to." the Klingon relayed to the Engineer. +taps+ "Great, thanks, Blake Out." +taps+ T'Kang closed the channel, then glanced around the bridge. It seemed most of the staff were elsewhere, most likely getting ready for the system shutdowns to allow the work to be performed on the Tempest. In preparation, T'Kang began setting all systems on standby, getting ready for the brief power outage. As he did so his mind wondered to the two Cadets he'd just instructed and drilled. T'Kang decided that while they both did well together in the classroom instructor environment, that really wasn't a good test to see how they'd react in a more stressful situation like encountered in a real battle. While shutting down the rest of the tactical station, a wicked smile twisted onto the corners of the Klingon's mouth. He thought of just the way to test the Cadets to see what they were made of. He could begin this evening. <>
