"Reporting to General Pi'ror" by Sogh T'Kang First officer - IKV Jachyoj http://come.to/tkang T'Kang bulldozed his way across D'Alaan station. He was still angry at the death of Ra'wI' Kruge and frustrated that there was little he himself could do until the Medical and Science teams had finished examining the First Officer's body to determine what poison was used to take his life. The Klingon warrior made his way to Red level 9, the section of D'Alaan 27 reserved for the Klingon Barracks. The last time T'Kang was on this deck, he'd just met Ra'wI' Kruge when he casually tossed T'Kang's duffel bag aside to assign him a bunk. Now the warrior was with the black fleet in Sto'Vo'Kor. T'Kang paused and let out a pained sigh. Glancing around the open barracks of the mostly unfinished deck, the warrior spotted what looked like the offices and mess area of the level. He promptly marched over in that direction. Upon entering through the rounded archway, T'Kang came to an open area where several crates had been stacked and spread around. A few Klingon warriors were lounging about, using the crates as furniture while waiting for the supplies to arrive from Q'onos. When T'Kang entered the three men glanced in his direction. Only one stood up, seeing his rank of Sogh and realizing he was not simply a warrior assigned to the D'Alaan 27 garrison. "Sogh. We were told to wait here by Ra'wI' Kruge." the standing warrior stated. Upon hearing the declared rank of the bear-like T'Kang, the other two warriors stood up as well. T'Kang disposed of the formalities. He himself had a mental distaste for addresses from his time in Starfleet Command. More than one time he'd been scolded for not using the proper term "sir" or "ma'am". "Kruge is dead. He was murdered less than an hour ago." T'Kang said in a hostile tone indicating he was not very happy about it. The news shocked the three warriors that glanced at each other quickly. "How can this be? He left us not long before that?" "Some nuch poisoned him." T'Kang said with contempt as he curled his upper lip slightly showing his clenched warrior's teeth which he spoke through. "Poison? That is a be'mey weapon! No Klingon would use such a dishonorable potion." one of the warriors stated. "Perhaps. The Federationers are investigating the ra'wI's death now. Once they determine the toxin used, how and when it was administered we will have a clearer picture of who did this thing." T'Kang explained. "It was the humans." the second warrior hissed. "They have no honor." T'Kang turned and faced the warrior directly. He was a head taller and probably twice the mass of the somewhat lanky warrior, which caused him to catch his breath at the shear girth of T'Kang's close presence. "Perhaps. . ." T'Kang hissed looking down his wrinkled nose at the warrior, ". . . but they also have no apparent motive either." The warrior swallowed quickly and nodded as his eyes diverted away from the piercing stare of the Sogh. There was no sense in arguing with one's superior officer over what might have happened when no evidence is available to back it up at the moment. "What is your name?" T'Kang asked, causing the warrior to look back up into the Sogh's eyes. "Tumek of the house of Urussig." the lanky warrior stated. T'Kang nodded without comment, stepping back to look at the others. "And you, what house do you hail from?" "I am Roshka of the house of Sot." the black bearded warrior said with a bow of his head. "And I am Reshtarc, son of MakkSud." the younger warrior stated. "I am Sogh T'Kang of the house of Crass. I am weapons officer of the Jachyoj. And I am in command here now that Kruge is dead." The three warriors didn't seem to dispute T'Kang's claim. Each just gave a slight nod, until Tumek spoke up. "The ra'wI's office is over there. I believe there is a sub- space transceiver set up to communicate with the Defense Force." Tumek stated. T'Kang glanced over and gave a nod. "Good. I will use it to contact General Pi'ror and inform him of Kruge's death." Then glancing at the three warriors, he asked, "What were your orders?" "Ra'wI' Kruge ordered us to stay on this level out of the way until the supply ship arrives from Q'onos." T'Kang nodded. "Good. You will continue to do that. And while you are waiting, you can set about cleaning this place up." The order had shocked the warriors in the room. "We are warriors!, not house maids!" "You are Klingons. You will do as you are told. I will have a place for the warriors that are to be stationed here to stay when they arrive, and that place will be clean and clear of all of these debris. Is that understood?" T'Kang retorted in an angry, rising tone. "Yes sir. Your orders are understood Sogh." Roshka replied. Then slowly he walked away, paused and lifted one of the broken crates off the floor with his arms. T'Kang stood there waiting for the other two to likewise begin straightening what looked like it would be the recreational area of the barracks before turning to head for Kruge's office where the transmitter was located. The portable Klingon transmitter was in working order, and already configured to make contact with the home world. T'Kang activated the unit, sending a hail to General Pi'ror. The rotund General's image appeared on the tiny view screen. Behind him the tri-pointed Klingon seal of the Empire mounted to the wall. ["General Pi'ror here. Who calls me?"] "General, it is I, T'Kang. Sogh weapons officer of the IKV Jachyoj." General Pi'ror nodded, recognizing the name and face of the former Starfleet Officer that had resigned to return and serve the Empire. ["Ah yes T'Kang. How do you find station D'Alaan 27?"] "Ra'wI' Kruge is dead." T'Kang stated flatly in reply. The General shifted. He hadn't expected more than civilized "Federation-like" conversation with someone so fresh from Starfleet. ["Dead? How. . . You didn't kill him did you?!"] "No. Kruge was murdered. Someone poisoned him. The Federation is examining his body now to determine what poison was used and other details of his murder. Captain Mec has ordered the station sealed off until the investigation is completed." T'Kang reported. General Pi'ror sat back and let out a deep sigh. ["This is sad news for the Empire T'Kang. ra'wI' Qugh has served the Empire well for many many years. He will be gravely missed."] "We will determine who did this General, and bring the person or persons to justice." T'Kang explained. ["Of course. This act can not go unpunished. No matter who the guilty parties might be."] the General agreed. ["Have you any further news to report T'Kang?"] "No sir. Except we are still in great need of supplies. The Jachyoj has yet to arrive." ["Yes. . ."] General Pi'ror stated, shifting his great weight in his chair uncomfortably, [". . .unfortunately there has been an unavoidable altering of plans there T'Kang. HoD K'sara's recent actions have complicated matters. She is no longer commanding the Jachyoj."] "Where does that leave us General? The crew and supplies the Jachyoj carries are needed on this station." T'Kang asked in a straight forward tone. ["Not to worry. The Jachyoj is on it's way as we speak."] General Pi'ror quickly reassured, ["It should be arriving sometime tomorrow with her crew and some of the supplies most needed for the station."] T'Kang's eyes narrowed. He was glad to hear the bird of prey would be arriving in the next 24 hours, but could tell by the General's tone that something was being held back, which troubled him. "General, you do not sound pleased about the Jachyoj's arrival. . ." ["Concerned would be the better term T'Kang. HoD K'sara was the perfect commander for this assignment. She was experienced with both command and dealing with Starfleet officers, much like yourself. The new commander assigned to the Jachyoj doesn't have the experience or the skill with either as K'sara had. I was counting on Ra'wI Kruge to assist Aram in commanding the Jachyoj. Now with Kruge gone, I hope the Council's decision to give the Jachyoj to such an inexperienced HoD wasn't made in haste."] T'Kang nodded. "Aram? That name sounds familiar to me. From what house does he hail?" The General again shifted uncomfortably. ["It is of little importance T'Kang. What matters is that the Jachyoj will arrive tomorrow and when it does, HoD Aram will look to find Ra'wI Kruge there to serve as First Officer. With Kruge's departure for the black fleet, that honor now falls to you T'Kang. You must serve as First Officer on board the Jachyoj. Are you prepared to do your duty for the Empire?"] Pi'ror deflected and skillfully changed the topic like the politician that the over weight warrior had become. T'Kang's forehead deepened into a scowl. He wasn't pleased at the General's skillful refusal to answer his question, but wasn't stupid either. Being chosen as First Officer of the Jachyoj was a great honor. It would go a long way towards restoring the honor to his fallen house. "I am prepared to do what is called of me General. I shall serve the Empire with dedication and honor." General Pi'ror gave a satisfied nod of approval at T'Kang's response. ["Qapla' with your new posting T'Kang. You and the crew of the Jachyoj represent the Klingon Empire at that space station. Serve well, and bring honor to your house."] With a nod, General Pi'ror deactivated the channel. T'Kang leaned back and took in a deep breath. Serving as First Officer on board the IKV Jachyoj would be a huge responsibility. One which the Klingon hoped he would prove to be worthy of.
