"Revelations" by Sogh T'Kang First officer - IKV Jachyoj http://come.to/tkang Commander Steven Relloren escorted T'Kang to the USS Yeager at docking bay 3. The ship was a Sabre class Federation starship. It's interior much more refined and standard than the alien decks of the space station or the interior of Klingon ships. Relloren negotiated the corridors and decks of the Yeager like it was second nature to him. The muscular Trill didn't make much small talk as he walked. Instead expecting T'Kang to keep up with his long stride. The Klingon was grateful for that. Too often humans in Starfleet felt the need to communicate when it was unnecessary. They would ask questions about the climate, or how you are feeling, or if your day went well. So far T'Kang had spent not even 24 hours on D'Alaan 27. He knew practically no one. His commanding officer, Ra'wI' Kruge, had been murdered, and he'd been appointed First officer of the Jachyoj which hadn't even arrived yet. Was that as good day, or a bad one? T'Kang wouldn't know what to say. "Here we are. You can use this station to access the Klingon Defense Force computer network, assuming you have the clearance codes to gain access to the KDF databanks." Relloren pointed. T'Kang, being former Starfleet himself, was familiar with the standard LCARS control panel. He quickly tapped in the required sequence of commands and soon had established a link to Q'onos and the central database of the Klingon Defense Force homeworld. Glancing over to Commander Relloren, he could see that Steven was suitably impressed at how well T'Kang knew how to operate Federation equipment. "May I use some of your computer's memory banks to record a copy of the downloaded information for later reference?" Steven nodded. "By all means. What exactly are you looking for T'Kang?" Commander Relloren asked. "I am accessing the service records and personnel files of the Klingon Empire. Requesting the records of every officer assigned to D'Alaan 27. It may come in useful once the cause of Ra'wI' Kruge's death has been discovered." Steven nodded. "The Captain was filling me in about that T'Kang. I'm sorry this happened. Our doctors and scientists should have some information for us come tomorrow." T'Kang just grunted while the data was being downloaded from the Klingon Empire into the USS Yeager's databanks. T'Kang had been only partially truthful with the Commander. He was correct, the Klingon personnel records would be needed later on in the investigation into Kruge's death, but really, T'Kang wanted to find out more about this HoD Aram, the new Captain of the Jachyoj who had replaced HoD K'sara because of the business on Praxis. General Pi'ror evaded the warrior's direct question of why the HoD sounded familiar to him. Now T'Kang wanted to know all that he could about his future commanding officer, who would be arriving tomorrow with the Jachyoj. The download was completing while T'Kang and Commander Relloren waited. It was an awkward moment for the two officers. The Klingon sat brooding, waiting for the files to finish transferring while Steven stood by and watched. Finally, he couldn't stand it any longer. "So what do you think of D'Alaan 27 T'Kang?" Commander Relloren asked in that 'small talk' tone so common in Starfleet. "It is dark. And certain sections smell very badly." T'Kang replied bluntly. Steven chuckled, "Well, I guess you are right about that. It's my understanding that the space station is thought to have sat out here in space for over a thousand years. They are still trying to discover more about it's origins and who built it. I would think if any space station sat unoccupied that long, it would smell pretty badly too." T'Kang just glanced at the Commander without changing his facial expression at all. T'Kang was so serious, Steven thought he'd make the perfect straight man for telling jokes and pulling pranks. "The download is complete." T'Kang stated as he disconnected the sub-space link to the KDF database back on Q'onos. "Well, let's see what you have got there." Commander Relloren stated, leaning over T'Kang's chair to gain a better view of the screen over his shoulder. "This is a list of all Klingon's assigned to D'Alaan station. Some are currently here already, while the remainder will be arriving tomorrow on board the Jachyoj." T'Kang explained. "The Jachyoj is finally arriving? It's about time that bird of prey got here." Steven commented. "There was a delay while the commander of that vessel was replaced. I am assured by General Pi'ror that it will be arriving early tomorrow." T'Kang explained. Glancing at the list of names on the manifest, Commander Relloren noticed the name HoD Aram listed. It stood out, because he knew that 'HoD' was the Klingon equivalent of 'Captain' in Starfleet, and the last he'd heard, HoD K'sara was to command the bird of prey stationed at D'Alaan 27. "HoD Aram? That's the replacement commander?" Relloren asked. T'Kang nodded, calling up Aram's service record which had also been downloaded from the Klingon Defense Force database into the USS Yeager's computer system. The screen flashed with the warrior's picture and record. Immediately T'Kang was surprised at how young he looked. Steven noticed it too. "I'm no expert at guessing the age of Klingon's mind you T'Kang, but isn't he a little young to be the Captain of a bird of prey?" T'Kang was a little stunned and nodded. "Your eyes do not deceive you Commander. He can not be more than two or three seasons past the age of ascension at most." Steven, not being an expert on Klingon customs or traditions, asked, "That would be young, yes?" T'Kang glanced back to give the Trill a more solid frame of reference. "What you would refer to a . . . teenager." The Klingon then turned around and scrolled through Aram's service record with the KDF. It was very sparse. Which would be expected of a youth in the Defense Force. But then why was he granted Captaincy of a bird of prey and made a HoD? Remembering General Pi'ror's elusive behavior when asked what house Aram belongs to, T'Kang began searching for the data in his file. When he found it, he leaned back in shock. Commander Relloren, reading over the Klingon's shoulder, also saw it, and read out loud from the file. "Aram, illegitimate son of Duras." Steven paused, "I thought Toral was Duras' illegitimate son?" T'Kang was still in shock, but managed to explain, "Duras had many affairs outside his house. Evidently this. . . boy, resulted in one of those drunken nights of passion." "So this HoD Aram is of the house of Duras?" Commander Relloren asked just to be certain. "It would appear so. No wonder General Pi'ror was reluctant to tell me anything more of the HoD's background." Glancing off in the distance, T'Kang realized he'd gotten what he needed from the Commander in the use of the Yeager's computer systems. "You have been helpful Commander. But I believe I have what I need now from the Klingon Defense Force databanks." Steven nodded. "I'll show you the way back to the docking bay T'Kang." T'Kang deactivated the terminal and rose to follow the commander off the Yeager and to the airlock they past through earlier. Now that the data was safely stored in the databanks of the USS Yeager, it could easily be linked to from station D'Alaan 27. It would make the investigation into Ra'wI' Kruge's murder much easier, once the medical and science teams came through with their findings from the autopsy and toxicology tests. The entire way through the Yeager's corridors and to station D'Alaan 27 T'Kang remained silent. It was the perfect ending to an already turbulent day. He was now First officer of the bird of prey Jachyoj, serving HoD Aram, son of Duras, a disgraced traitor to the Klingon Empire. Some how T'Kang didn't see this assignment as being a great help in restoring honor to his fallen family house of Crass.
