Akula: "Unexpected targets" by Ensign T'Kang Asst. Helmsman "Ensign T'Kang, can you identify the vessel yet?" Lieutenant Za called out from the tactical station. The Klingon scowled while tapping the flight controls. Under the protection of the Akula's cloaking device, sensor resolution was not as great. The close proximity to the planet's atmosphere was further complicating matters. T'Kang let out a low growl while baring his teeth and making the needed adjustments. "It appears to be a Cardassian light cruiser." T'Kang grumbled, "They have assumed a standard orbit about the planet." Lieutenant Za peered at the view screen for a moment as if he were looking at the enemy ship. His contemplative gaze gave away the busy thoughts running around in the Andorian's mind. "Are they actively scanning for enemy ships Ensign?" Za asked evenly. In a manner indicative to his being annoyed at having to tap more buttons on his console, the Klingon let out a dejected sigh. "Negative." T'Kang barked impatiently. "Then they may have just entered orbit on happenstance." Za hypothesized. "What are we going to DO about it?!" T'Kang boisterously snapped back, swiveling in his chair to face the Lieutenant. Za took note of the Klingon's disrespectful outburst and glanced at T'Kang down his Andorian nose with piercing eyes. Sighing is exasperation, T'Kang added a more even, "Sir." to beckon the Lieutenant for an answer. With a slight jog of his chin, Za removed his gaze from the brash Klingon and placed it once again upon the main view screen. "Adjust course to bring us behind the Cardassian ship and within weapons range." T'Kang closed his feral mouth and spun around to face his station. Tapping the controls, the flight control officer adjusted the Akula's course to do as the Lieutenant had commanded. "About time.." The Klingon grumbled under his breath. The comment didn't escape the Andorian commanding officer, but Lieutenant Za had other things on his mind than T'Kang's rough and tumble attitude. Quickly keying in several commands at the tactical station, the Lieutenant set up a low frequency jamming signal and routed the controls back to the command station at the center of the bridge. Finally, Za moved back to the command chair and verified he had weapons control and communications available from the captain's chair before resting back in the cozy seat. "Monitor their communications Ensign. If they try to contact anyone on the planet or receive a hail, inform me immediately so we can jam their signals." Once again T'Kang bared his teeth as the Lieutenant's orders required him to tap a few more controls. In a half grunt, the Klingon acknowledged the order. A moment later he grumbled over his shoulder, "They are hailing the prison camp." Lieutenant Za's eyes narrowed sharply.
